ActivitiesWatching the Michelin Rally Trials taking place close by

The lists below are by no means exhaustive ... there's so much going on, it's difficult to get it all on these pages!

It has to be said that your holiday at Finca Cencerrita is, above all else, a time for you to unwind and enjoy the tranquillity we can offer you. Sitting on the terraces, soaking up the warmth of the sun, an occasional dip in the pool, sipping a chilled Sangria, nibbling on some tapas whilst sighing over the beauty of the sunset. Masses of sightseeing, aerobics and discos are not what this is all about .....  However, we do appreciate that some of our guests need a little something to while the time away ...

Painting/Photography

Spectacular views for you to paint and photograph.  If you should wish to paint/shoot something other than our splendid views (heaven forbid!), as with all activities, we can arrange transport to the place of your choice - you may wish to start and finish your day in different locations.  Easels are available - no charge, just a damage deposit .. just in case!

Quad Trekking

In August 2007 some of our guests went Quad Trekking with Quadlandertreks, based near Álora - and had the most marvellous time. Apart from the fabulous scenery and sheer enjoyment of it all, Carol and Andy were very impressed by Susan's professionalism and high safety standards.  Perhaps you'd better take a look at the site! http://quadlandertreks.com

Nature - Wild Flowers and Bird watching

There is so much to see right here at Cencerrita - we have a few books to aid identification - but bring yours as well as there are still many mysterious treasures to be revealed.   We are pleased to say that there are nesting Spanish Imperial Eagles in the area and many guests are treated to regular "fly-bys" of these splendid birds. The early spring months are the best time for the multitude of wild flowers that cover the finca. If you are interested in being taken on a guided tour (all day is appx 50 euros each) by a knowledgeable local (English), do let us know and we will put you in contact.

Birds spotted from Casita Maria in late September by Ross and Carol included: blackbird, chaffinch, goldfinch, blue tit, great tit, Sardinian warbler, zitting cirtercola, woodchat shrike, nightjar, booted eagle, short toed eagle, kestrel, pipit, woodlark, jackdaw, raven, feral pigeon, swift, swallow, sand martin, house martin, a still to be identified hawk, bee-eater, sparrow, spotless starling, red legged partridges, and stonechats ... but sadly they didn't see any of the many hoopoes living around here!

Horse Riding/Pony Trekking

Riding available in the local area for beginners and experienced riders. We have a delightful stables in the area that we recommendClick here for details

Yoga

The warmth of the Spanish sun and the serene atmosphere at Cencerrita makes this a perfect place for yoga. Yoga

Walking/Hiking

Particularly in the cooler months, walking around Finca Cencerrita is beautiful.  On the tracks, traffic is rare - you are unlikely to meet anyone other than the occasional goat herder or almond/olive picker.  We have worked out some walks in the area to take you from a short 15 minutes (although we know some guests took nearly two hours to do that walk - they found there was simply too much to look at to hurry!) up to a day's hike to the top of El Hacho. Some of the walks around Cencerrita can be found outlined here: Walks.  We keep detailed, diagrammatic maps to help you find your way - even GPS co-ordinates should you want them!

Mountain Biking

The area of Álora/Pizarra and the Gibalmora mountains are an ideal location for mountain biking: From up high at wonderful view points to the arroyos that link the valley - some arroyos might not even be completely dry river beds!  Please note that the tracks around here are not suitable for road bikes ... Expeditions can be made locally from Álora as can hire of bikes from 100 euros per 6 (yes, that's 6!) days.  Please ask for further details.

Rock Climbing

The area of El Chorro is renowned for rock climbing and it also has safe areas for beginners. Local tuition is available. There is also a great rock climbing shop at El Chorro - Aventur El Chorro. Climbers who have stayed here say that Abdalajis is also great for climbing - particularly for beginners.  El Torcal's unusual rock formations also attract climbers from all over the world. More information and links to Aventur El Chorro can be found on our Climbing page.

Star Gazing

Above Cencerrita, the velvet black night sky sparkles with millions of glittering silver stars, virtually untarnished by light pollution.  The huge view of the skies from the roof terrace gives you a near perfect viewing platform to gaze heavenwards and see the unique heavens high above. The expert astronomer will probably have their own equipment to bring (and I look forward to using it!). However, for those of us who are more enthusiastic than knowledgeable, we can provide star charts for use during your stay - ordinary binoculars will do just fine - there's plenty to see within their range! Before your visit, we suggest you have a look on the net for "Star Gazing" or Astronomy.  Here is one of my favourite links to get you started! http://www.stargazing.net

Sightseeing

Lots!  See Outings for more information.

There's a lot more information available on all the above - just ask if you want any further details.  There are also plenty of activities that we haven't included - if there's something you would like to do that isn't here ... just ASK!
