On confirmation of your
holiday, we will provide you with comprehensive and detailed
instructions from Malaga Airport to Éstacion de Cártama where we always
meet first time guests. We then take you up the mountain road (tarmac)
and then the last couple of kilometres are on a track: starting off
better than many metalled roads and ending with a serviceable farm
track. In wet months a 4x4 would probably give you more confidence,
although an unnecessary expense.
None of our guests have yet hired a 4x4 - though a car with high ground
clearance would be nice - such as the Ford Fusion, Citroen Berlingo and
Renault Kangaroo. Most guests seem to have either Renault Clio or Ford Focus
type
which are more than adequate. It seems that the higher the category of
car, the lower the ground clearance is - this is not the place to treat
yourselves to a Porsche ....
Car Hire
Do remember though, we will pick you up from the airport (€35) and take
you out on excursions (various prices) - so unless you want to go out
each day, you might not even need a car! (see:
Getting Around)
If you are driving down to Southern Spain, you may find it worth taking
a look at the
Via Michelin
site. Here you can type in your departure point and your destination -
not to mention whether you want toll roads, motorways, scenic or
shortest routes, and print out a fairly comprehensive route direction
guide with timings (although it doesn't allow for a single break!) and
even petrol consumption.
